Jimmy-Full-Map-Final-No-Olympic-Route

A round-the-world sailing rally, aiming to raise awareness of the global effects of climate change and the most urgent issues facing our ocean.

MOSF is building a team to participate in the 2014-2017 Blue Planet Odyssey sailing rally. The Blue Planet Odyssey is a 3-year, round-the-world sailing event aimed at raising awareness about of the state of the oceans and promoting activities that encourage collaborative and sustainable ocean practices.

The event has been organized by famous British yachtsman and author, Jimmy Cornell, and will be run under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO and in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Over 3 years, the route will pass through both major metropolitan cities and some of the least traveled parts of the oceans. Arrangements have been made with oceanographic institutes and research centers to receive environmental data gathered by participants during the rally. Event participants will take part in community projects such as education outreach, the building or installation of wind and solar powered desalination plants, and activities with schools, hospitals and community organizations.

The Blue Planet Odyssey is already garnering international media attention and will be participating in high-profile media events in cities throughout the world between 2014-2017. During this 3-year event, MOSF will be actively engaged in social media, video and written blogging, and the development “Project Spotlights”, which are comprehensive documents about successful marine conservation projects and data on how those projects can be duplicated. MOSF will engage the services of an experienced marketing firm to find the most efficient ways to promote your products and services and deliver targeted marketing campaigns to ensure our sponsors receive the highest return on their investment. Sailing and yachting event sponsorships portray the image that a business is accomplished, established, green-minded, technologically savvy, and the very best in its industry.
